NCF attends Carex

Northside Community Forum met with members of the community at Carex 2009 in September.

The expo ran between 9.30am and 4.00pm over two days, and Ben and I spoke to around 100 people each day.  We gave out 100 Information Packs, and also numerous Fact Sheets outlining the various projects, such as Young Carers, Ageing Carers, Working Carers, and Mental Health.  All our Fact Sheets are on the Forum website under “Media Room”.

Ben and I made a good team, as I was able to provide information on the Carelink service, while Ben promoted the Respite service and how it can offer carers a well-earned break from their caring duties.  We were also able to “network” with other services, speaking to various nursing agencies, health professionals, and organisations  such as the Incontinence Association.

The expo was attended largely by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, as well as Social Workers, service providers and carers.  There were many interesting products on display, including personal alarms, beds, water baths, hygiene products etc.  A worthwhile 2 days.
