Young Carers Programme (YC’s) in Northern Sydney have started the year with a bang!

EXPRESS YOURSELF! Art and Writing Competition bought YC’s of all ages together to ‘express themselves’ and their caring stories.  We had entries received that were creative, artistic, soulful and honest depicting a rewarding and challenging life as a YC.  Winners will be announced in February and will be able to be seen on our website.

In 2010, the YC programme will continue to grow and develop the ways in which we support YCs across Northern Sydney. 

In addition to our tutoring and flexible respite services we will also be offering;

Þ Counselling with specialist Psychologists and counsellors in YC issues including art and music therapy through Young Carers NSW

Þ A YC support group for YC’s 13 – 17 years old based in Ryde

Þ New publications about stress management for YC’s

Þ New publications to raise awareness for parents / guardians of YC issues

Þ School holiday activities

Þ And much more!

The YC programme is an exciting place to be!  Young Carers is Northern Sydney are making a massive impact in the lives of others and the YC programme is responding to their need for flexible respite, individualised services and need for continued education and advocacy for this group across the community.
