2009 North Sydney Community Awards

On 11 December 2009 Member for North Sydney, Hon. Joe Hockey MP, hosted the seventh annual North Sydney Community Awards at the North Sydney Leagues Club to honour the selfless efforts of members of our local community.

Mr Hockey established the Awards to recognise school captains, sportspeople, founders of community groups and importantly to honour those that volunteer in our community. 

This year’s ceremony had a successful turnout of community workers and guests, families and supporters including Mr Hockey’s special guest appearance, the legendary Australian actor Stuart Wagstaff, who assisted in the presenting of the Awards and spoke of his community and life experiences.

Amongst the guest were members of the Northside Community Forum Inc. who were there to support Joan Jamieson as she received her 2009 North Sydney Community Award.

Joan has been recognised for her distinguished volunteering record. She has 30 years of volunteering in HACC services including Ku-ring-gai Neighbourhood Centre, Easy Care Gardening and for the last 6 years she has also volunteered her time to assist at Northside Community Forum Inc., over 20,020 hours of volunteer service to date.  

We would like to again congratulate Joan Jamieson for her Community Award; it was a well deserved recognition.
