Respite Services for Carers

What is respite?

Respite is a break from the responsibility of looking after someone. It may be for a few hours, a day, a night or even weeks. Respite is a way of relieving the stress of being a carer. If you are a carer, making time for yourself is important for your own health and well being.

Who are carers?

Carers look after family members or friends who are frail aged, have a disability, chronic condition or mental health disorder. Caring can be rewarding but also exhausting, so carers need to take a break.

Where does respite happen?

Respite can happen in a variety of settings that suit the carer and the person being supported.
